The Sixers Bounce Back Huge

The Sixers are in the midst of one of their tougher stretches of the season, they had to play a tough Denver team, back to back against the Knicks and play the Hawks, Magic and Spurs in a matter of days, one could only ask for so much, but no one expected a 34 point throttling of the Hawks in Atlanta.

It's safe to say that the Sixers were able to bounce back after a tough 117-103 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon, but Philadelphia showed the world last night that this team may be better than anybody expected. I'm not going to say that this a Finals contender now, but I will say right now that the Philadelphia 76ers will not be an easy out for anybody.

This is a roster that I thought had promise last season before all of the nonsense happened with the former Sixers head coach will shall not be named again. This team is very athletic and fast and therefore can run the fast break with certain lineups they put on the floor.

One of the most encouraging signs from last night was the continued fight of the Sixers throughout the romp, Doug Collins didn't give the opportunity to let up and they shouldn't have, they aren't that good yet and it's yet another sign of how this team responds to Collins.

Elton Brand said sometime last week how much more comfortable the locker room and how good the mood is around the team and it's not surprising how that can help better a group.

Look at how well the Boston Celtics mesh together and tell me that chemistry doesn't play a part in success, it doesn't happen with every locker room across the NBA, but the teams that are able to achieve that level of camaraderie are boosted upward in terms of effort and results once they attain it.

Last night the Sixers only picked up their eighth win on the road, but it's all about baby steps with this team so it's important to note that they're 3-1 in their last four road game so the Sixers are definitely trending upward.

And it doesn't get any easier tonight as they return home to host the Orlando Magic, a team that the Sixers have given some trouble this season and a team they should have beaten the last time they met. We all remember the two four point plays the Magic got in the fourth quarter and overtime, but that was a different Sixers team and we might see why tonight
